About Our Program
The Class of 2001 is the final Class to Graduate from the Recreation and Leisure Management Program. The program is now called the Recreation and Tourism Department, with the addition of a Tourism Management Program. The following is an overview of the Recreation and Leisure Program. (Taken from the Program's Brochure).
The Recreation and Leisure Management Program is a broad-based, two-year course that combines lecture theory and practical assignments. It offers:
- Sound recreation philosophy
- Leadership and group dynamic skills
- Transferable credits to university
Since the program offers students skill development in a number of areas, students have the opportunity to enter any discipline within the field of Recreation. Some of these areas include:
- Facility Management
- Special Event Planning
- Special Needs
- Community Development
- Community Recreation
- Sports Management
The admission requirements for the Recreation and Tourism Department are:
Grade 12 with an average mark of 60%. Minimum mark of 60% in English A30 and B30 and a 60% in Math 30.
There is also the policy of :
"FIRST QUALIFIED, FIRST ADMITTED"
